Well it's Monday! YIPPY!! We have actually gotten some schooling done today : ) It is lunch time now and I plan on doing more after. CJ has a football game today at 3:30 so we all will be heading out to that. After the game we will have my mother, sister, niece and a friend over for dinner. Including my SIL, nephews and my family there will be 14 of us in all!! WOW! Lucky for me, my Honey made a HUGE pot of Portuguese soup for tonight---yummy. All we need is some bread and we will be all set. It is a great warm-you-up kind of meal after a fall football game.
I am feeling 90% better. This virus has settled into my chest. No more fever or body aches. I do still get tired easily---but I don't have time for that so I have been just pressing on.
The countdown is on....SIL and nephews are scheduled to move on Saturday!!! I don't think she made the wisest decision in regards to her apartment (she took an apartment upstairs from the X-live-in boyfriend's mother). She is one that needs to make the mistake herself because she doesn't listen to reason. You know who I feel bad for in all this...the boys. Because of her lack of maturity (she is 34 but acts 15) and parenting skills the boys are the ones who get hurt or miss out. As an example--my younger nephew in 10. He really doesn't know his father all that well. He talks to him on the phone once in while but in 10 years he has probably spent a total of 30 days with him. Well she left everything in Florida to move back up to MA to be with the XBF (they had been talking for 2 weeks on the phone). My nephew after a very short period of time started calling him Dad. XBF was allowed to discipline him and they went around saying they were a family. Now they broke up and my nephew wants to know why no one wants to love him. He wants to know what HE did wrong. THAT IS SO NOT FAIR TO HIM!!! Now she is moving into this apartment. The kids call XBF mother Vo-Vo (Portuguese for grandma) and I am sure he will be there sometimes. Talk about throwing salt into a wound. I have tried talking to SIL about this. She just laughs it off and says "everything will be alright". I think it is away to stay close to him. She truly believes XBF is going through a faze and be back. Sad, very sad.
Well to lighten the mood before I end today I have a joke CJ sent me.
After being interviewed by the school administration, the eager teaching prospect said: "Let me see if I've got this right.
"You want me to go into that room with all those kids and fill their every waking moment with a love for learning. And I'm supposed to instill a sense of pride in their ethnicity, modify their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse and even censor their T-shirt messages and dress habits.
"You want me to wage a war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, check their backpacks for weapons of mass destruction, and raise their self-esteem.
"You want me to teach them patriotism, good citizenship, sportsmanship, and fair play, how and where to register to vote, how to balance a checkbook, and how to apply for a job.
"I am to check their heads for lice, maintain a safe environment, recognize signs of antisocial behavior, offer advice, write letters of recommendation for student employment and scholarships, encourage respect for their elders and future employers.
"And I am to communicate regularly with the parents by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card.
"All of this I am to do with just a piece of chalk, a computer, a few books, a bulletin board, and a big smile AND on a starting salary that qualifies my family for food stamps!
"You want me to do all of this, and you expect me NOT TO PRAY?"

Judy,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I don't get much time to post right now with school and all. Things are just pretty busy around here. I am hoping to try to do at least one post a week with what we've done throughout the week in school and more. Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I hope you are better soon! And wow - sorry to hear about your SIL and that situation!
Hope you have a wonderful week!
Karen
